Mindomo

A sophisticated browser-based application for rapidly recording information and ideas (text, links, images, audio, video, files etc.) and organising it into either a spider-diagram layout with a central topic (mind map) or an interconnected web of topics (concept map). Large amounts of information may be added to a map in these structures. Detail may be hidden and revealed so as to reflect on and reorganise the strucure of the map. Maps can be shared for concurrent editing. Topics may be tagged using an emergent taxonomy. Topics may be turned into tasks (start and end date, progress) and assigned to people. Topics in the map, or sets of maps, may be searched and filtered (including using tags and task information, for example to show all incompleted tasks). Templates can be created and reused, or (with the Teacher subscription) assigned to students (individuals or grouops) with a deadline, and assessed with feedback given.

Miro is an alternative to Mindomo, and includes a much less sophisticated mind map tool. Miro is more structured and oriented towards knowledge management.
